Scope of BSc (Bachelor of Science), Career, Syllabus & Eligibility
- Pre-medical
- Pre-engineering
- Computer sciences
- General science group
Once the result of intermediate part 2 is announced there are two distinct groups of the students that appear after the completion. One group studying the combinations of pre-engineering and pre-medical get into the respective professional institutions if they score high in the finals and clear the entry test of their field i.e MCAT & ECAT. The other group of the students is the one that couldn’t make to the professional studies or they completed the inter in general sciences. The second group prefers to join the sciences at the bachelors. Science does not mean studying biology, chemistry or physics, but the field is much broader than this.
Eligibility to Join B.Sc:
The basic criterion of joining the sciences in the bachelors is the completion of the 12 years of education from the local BISE system or the international system with sciences as the basic electives. The students, who cleared their equivalent twelve years (A-Level) from the international system of education, are considered eligible after getting the equivalency from IBCC. The percentage required for admissions varies from institute to institute. Some may ask for 45% as the least marks, while there are many institutions that don’t compromise on less than 60% for the sciences. The admissions are based on the merit, self-finance or quota system.
Subjects offered at B.Sc Level:
The students who join the bachelor sciences get the chance to avail degree in numerous combinations as elective. The biology splits into the zoology and biology. The other subjects include physics, chemistry, mathematics (A and B), psychology and geography. Other than these specific groups the bachelors of sciences can also be completed in the fields of nursing, medicine, anesthesiology, engineering, computer sciences, forensics sciences etc.
Scope of B.Sc:
There is a vast career option opened after completing the Bachelor of Science (BSc). The students learning sciences are guaranteed enough scientific knowledge. They can use the knowledge to acquire the position of research officer in many institutions. For a country like Pakistan, where major citizens are involved in agriculture, the degree in agriculture can be highly beneficial. The research in the said field can be highly beneficial for the individual as well as the country. The bachelor degree holders can earn a great salary package beside the designation. The Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree with honors is equivalent to the masters.
BSc is a two years program, while many universities of Pakistan are also offering 3 or 4 years BSc Honors degree. It’s much better option than simple BSc. Now Pakistani universities have also introduced 4 years BS program. BS is equivalent to MSc, it means after BS you may get admission directly in M.Phil or MS program.
